Andrew Robinson, a young seminarian, is dying of cancer.

His chemotherapy treatment is painful and draining, involving dispiriting periods in hospital. Archbishop Vincent Nichols gives him a journal and invites him to record his daily thoughts. Despite his suffering he is happy to sing the praises of God.

In the midst of his ordeal, Archbishop Vincent Nichols brings the possibility of his ordination to the fore, which raises his hopes and lifts his spirit. Tragically his condition deteriorates - he embraces God’s will, dying peacefully on 27th April 2001.

Tears at Night, Joy at Dawn is a powerful testimony to God’s grace in preparing a young man to face life’s ultimate reality.

We are delighted in this second edition of Tears at Night, Joy at Dawn, to make available a CD on which:

  • Archbishop Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster explains the inspiration which made him invite Andrew to write his journal.
  • Listen to Andrew Robinson practising a talk he gave before he died on how his faith and the support of so many gave him strength and courage to face his ordeal.
  • Enjoy the singing of Andrew’s favourite psalm, Psalm 29 led by Monsignor Mark Crisp, Rector of St Mary’s College, Oscott, Birmingham and the 9.00 O’clock Sunday Mass Choir from St Thomas More Parish, Coventry.
